Wildlife Update

News from nature! Early summer is such an exciting time in the marsh. We have the arrival of migratory & transient species like sea turtles, painted buntings & red winged blackbirds. If lucky enough, you also may see the more rare roseate spoonbill. Also laying nests in the sand are sea turtles- primarily the loggerhead sea turtle. Summer is also the time of mating & birthing for our residential bottlenose dolphins. READ MORE

Loyalty Program

Did you know about our loyalty program? COA proudly offers loyalty cards in addition to group & military discounts. We also offer 10% off anytime you book more than one activity within a week. For those locals who like to come out and enjoy regular rentals, or have family out on guided tours, we offer a punch card-style loyalty card. The card is "stamped" once per visit (not per person) and can be redeemed for a $30 value on the fifth visit. READ MORE

Sunrise Tours

We are now offering guided sunrise tours every Thursday & Saturday. Starting between 6:00am and 6:30am, these guided tours are the perfect way to start your day. ⁠Enjoy exploring the calm creeks undisturbed by boat traffic or the hot summer sun. Your guide will give your background information on our area before diving into the incredible value & beauty of the salt marsh ecosystem. They will identify both plants & animals, which include sea birds, bottle nose dolphins, birds of prey, sting rays, small sharks, turtles & more. READ MORE

Bowens Island Restaurant

The famous Bowens Island Restaurant is now open for lunch! For the first time in its 75 years of business, they will be opening at 11 am & will be serving food through dinner (closing at 9:30pm), Tuesday through Saturday (closed on Sundays and Mondays). Youth Programs

Charleston Outdoor Adventures proudly offers special pricing for youth programs. Experiential outdoor learning is proven to promote personal growth, improve problem solving skills, and increase classroom engagement. Fossil Hunting 2022

Starting April of 2022, we will be offering our guided Fossil Hunting Tours four days a week. Timed around low tide, these tours offer an incredible chance to enjoy the Lowcountry's scenic marshes, abundant wildlife, and walk away with a variety of fossil material. READ MORE

Full Moon Tours

Come out to Bowen's Island and see Charleston through a whole new perspective. The entire experience is sensational. We venture onto the water just as the sun starts to paint the sky in vivid pastels. After a few last stubborn rays of the day escape over the horizon, watch as the moon illuminates the quiet salt marsh. We feel that this final, moonlit portion of the tour is the most special. Paddling at night offers a peaceful, yet adventurous feeling for both experienced and novice paddlers. READ MORE
