Delta Air Lines has announced Girl Scouts of the USA as the SkyWish Charity of the Quarter for the first quarter of 2003. Through SkyWish, Delta’s charitable mileage donation program, SkyMiles members can donate miles to support the Girl Scouts and its efforts to teach young women the importance of self-esteem, social values and leadership. Among other uses, miles donated will help send the Girl Scout Gold Award Young Women of Distinction to Washington, D.C., for a week of recognition and to learn about the U.S. government firsthand from women on Capitol Hill. The Girl Scout Gold Award Young Women of Distinction program recognizes 10 Girl Scouts for exceptional community service from the 3,500 recipients of the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award in Girl Scouting. Beginning today, SkyMiles members may donate miles to Girl Scouts of the USA via SkyWish. There is a 5,000-mile minimum donation, and Delta will boost each donation by adding 1,000 miles for every 5,000 miles contributed.
