"Press release September 2021, MONTREAL, QC - STARNO.net is thrilled to announce that our talented team of visual effectsartists will be joining the Rodeo FX family. Frederic St-Arnaud, founder andpresident of Starno, with more than 25 years of experience, will now head the matte paintingdepartment at Rodeo. In merging these mighty creative teams from both studios, the Matte Painting department of Rodeo Fx will continue to evolve as one of the best in the world.
“We were really on a roll, had the wind in our sails at STARNO.net... and then Sébastien [Moreau, CEO of RodeoFX] arrived with a really interesting proposition,” says Frederic St-Arnaud. “We’d workedtogether years ago and had a great rapport so when he approached me and offered a return toRodeo with the ambition of making a super high-end matte painting department, I was excited.”At Rodeo’s humble beginnings, Frederic worked as a matte painter as the company grew from 5employees to 85. After that period, he left to pursue his own career around the world in some ofthe most renowned visual effects companies, and eventually came back to Montreal to start hisown boutique studio.
“Frederic is an excellent artist and we have a great relationship so it’s a powerful merging oftalent to bring our two teams together at this stage, especially when things are moving ahead soquickly for both of our companies. The potential is endless,” remarks Sébastien Moreau, CEO ofRodeo FX. A versatile studio, STARNO.net has just wrapped up a project with a major Montreal filmstudio and has several virtual production projects on the go. STARNO’s employees and its currentprojects will be relocated inside Rodeo FX."

Frederic St-Arnaud is a business entrepreneur and a Visual Effects artist of more than 20 years of experience. As a successful and renowned talented artist, Frederic focused since 1998 primarily on digital Matte Painting (also known as Matte Art or Digimatte), set extension and concept art in the film industry building a strong reputation in the VFX community.He founded his own VFX company in 2015 named STARNO and today, he still continues to work with passion in the industry accompanied by his team of faithful artists.
