Nos. 3 and 4 Canalside are millworker s cottages built about 160 years ago in the centre of the picturesque canal village of Stoke Bruerne. They stand in an unrivalled position overlooking the Grand Union Canal and the locks.No traffic will pass your door other than colourful narrowboats on their way up and down the flight of seven locks. You can choose to enjoy the peace and quiet of this unique waterway location, explore its historic canal heritage, take a boat trip or just be absorbed by the comings and goings of this bustling canal community. Nos. 3 and 4 Canalside have enormous character and are right next to the water The cottages originally housed millworkers employed by the adjoining steam powered corn mill which was restored in the 1960s to house The Canal Museum with its important waterway collection and historic working narrowboat Sculptor. The Museum also has a gift shop and waterside cafe. The Canal Museum is housed in an old steam driven corn mill seen in this photo of around 1913 in a disused state. The cottages are to the right.(Morley Collection) No. 3 Canalside is a self-catering cottage with two bedrooms providing comfortable accomodation for four persons over four floors.No. 4 Canalside is a self-catering cottage with a farmhouse style kitchen and one bedroom accomodating two persons over three floors.
