The Protein Facility of the Iowa State University Office of Biotechnology is open to faculty andstudents from the university, other educational institutions, andindustry scientists. The facility offersprotein/peptide sequencing, large and small scale peptide synthesis(Fmoc), matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) massspectrometry,SDS-PAGE/electroblotting, 2-D gel electrophoresis, isoelectric focusing(IEF), in-gel and solution digestion, tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), ion mobility mass spectrometry (IM-MS), digital imageacquisition and analysis using the Typhoon imaging system and the 2Dgel documentation/analysis system, and semi-preparative, analytical and micro-analyticalhigh performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).MALDI, HPLC, SDS-PAGE/blotting, IEF, 2D gel electrophoresis, 2D gel documentation/analysis and the Typhoon imaging system are all availablefor user operation after appropriate training.The Protein Facility is located on the ground floor (Room 1178) of the Molecular Biology Building on Iowa State University's central campus.
