Using Glogster in the Classroom:
The growing popularity of Glogster helped spawn Glogster EDU to assist teachers in providing dynamic and interactive teaching experiences. The EDU Glogster project is intended primarily for pupils and teachers in primary and secondary schools.

Teachers privately register their students and may create a safe virtual class with as many as two hundred students. Teaching glogs are private and are made accessible to others at the discretion of the teacher. Glogster EDU is a kind of learning management system. Teachers can create projects with their students cross other schools. During a lesson teachers respond and assess pupils works. The platform is secure, as it may be accessed only by a teacher who may fully supervise his/her students activities and determine which Glogs go public and thus create an online digital encyclopedia with educational content.

Glogster EDU is currently being used by 150,000 teachers with over 2,000,000 students all around the world.

Madison 2010 Holiday Music Program
History Project: Showing how Glogster can be used in many ways!

Teaching with TechnologyLanguage Arts:

Above, Colin and Steven warm up by the SMARTBoard interactive fire before beginning their winter descriptive writing essay. Mrs. Klein and Mr. Vernier fully immersed their students in a seasonal setting complete with an inspirational fire and holiday music. Andrew, seen in the middle, gets started right away on his winter piece.

To the right, (above), Jamie walks you through her ipod project in the short film titled: "ipod Integration."

Math:

Sixth grade math students begin exploring integers with the help of Ms. Threet and Mrs. Klein's hands-on lesson that allowed students to preview the vocabulary, assess their background knowledge, collaborate with each other to complete a short activity, and work through guided practice problems.

View the short film on the right to see the students order themselves in effort to create a number line. Then, the students took it one step further and found their integer opposite. Way to work together sixth graders!

Poetry Recitals:

Extra Extra! Check out our Madison Middle School Poetry Stars! Students, on their own, volunteer to recite a piece of poetry, original or borrowed, for their viewing audience. Enjoy their shows as they polish their performing arts and fluency skills! Click here to connect to our 'projects page poetry recitals' to view all of our stars. More will be added each week, so check back often.

Bradley is featured to the right in his Live News theme. Students get to select their theme or location in order to give their poempizazz. Bravo!

Constitution DaySixth grade students in the social studies class of Jill Brandeberry and Erin Klein at Madison Middle School used various forms of technology to prepare a lesson in honor of Constitution Day.

Through the use of video equipment, computers, iPods, an iPad and an interactive white board, students put together a presentation designed to teach fourth graders about the main functions of the three branches of American government.

Thank you so much for all of our friends and family who continue to be so generous with your financial support.

This year, my goal is to raise money for itouch technology within our classroom.

There is an abundance of research that supports the benefits of such academic technologies with the classroom. Among this research is the use of itouch hand-held devices for enhancing instruction within the learning environment. Students, across the board, can benefit from this amazing and engaging technology - from special needs to gifted and talented. With the addition of itouch technology, students can have an interactive learning world at their fingertips. Concepts come alive through 3D images, organizations such as NASA have applications to enhance our standards, and assessments can be immediately taken and emailed to the teacher. Additionally, projects now can be done in a group manner where authentic skills for future opportunities can be utilized. Please help support our classroom with this exciting new initiative.
