Description:

I used to think Return of the Jedi was my favourite Star Wars movie.I saw it in the theatre as a young kid. It was awesome.Yeah, everyone loves Empire, but I love Jedi.I love the attack on the Death Star. I love how Luke saved Vader. I love the primitive Ewoks beating the Storm Troopers.I love that bikini. And then 15 years later there were three more movies! And I watched them. I enjoyed them. I didn t go crazy for them but then something happened, I found Revenge of the Sith (ROTS) being my go to movie. It's now my favourite Star Wars movie."Why?!" I hear you scream at me. "Why would you say that? The prequels sucked"."We hate them" you say."You re a moron for saying this! You re not fit to write about Star Wars! You're not a real Star Wars fan!".Let's be clear. Haters need not apply.Let's talk this through, it's so more civilised... Here's my points on why Sith is the fave.Revenge of the Sith had the best opening scene of any Star Wars film Yeah, Return of the Jedi was awesome when Luke rescued everyone on Jabba's sail barge but it was a slow build. Revenge of the Sith featured an epic space battle over Coruscant where hundreds of ships were taking part in an epic space battle. We were thrown instantly into the action with Anakin and Obi-Wan flying around, dodging missiles, crashing ships and getting rid of metal hungry droids that were trying to eat their ship while on a frantic mission to rescue the Chancellor from the many clutches of General Grevious. This was the fabled Clone Wars finally truly before our eyes on a grand scale.Featuring some of the best CGI ever done at the time, great camera work, amusing banter between the leads and some zippy music, this opening Stanza of ROTS was epic Star Wars magic. The story arcBeing the third movie in the trilogy, we finally get to where the lava hits the road. This is Anakin s movie.Or it s Vader s movie.Something, something, the duality of man.Yes, ever since we first met Vader capturing Princess Leia he has been the bad guy we loved and we wanted to know who the hell he was and what made him tick.It turns out it was his love for Padme that turned him to the Dark Side.Ewan McGregor shone brightly as Obi-Wan KenobiObi-Wan Kenobi had a lot to do in this movie. Rescue the Emperor, take down Grievous and leave his best friend for dead. You can say what you like about the earlier films but you cannot deny how good McGregor was as he ran about taking the higher ground.Proof is in the pudding with the announcement Kenobi will have its own series, directed by Deborah Chow who directed the third episode of Season One of The Mandalorian. We saw Vader as truly evil when he massacred the Younglings Fans of Vader were used to see him Force choking some impertinent officer or torturing Han Solo but until Sith came along, they had never seen Vader as truly evil. But they did when he killed Yoda's young students. This was the first true moment when we knew Anakin had well and truly turned to the Dark Side.Yes, he d massacred the tribe of Sand People who had beat and mistreated his mother so badly that she died of her injuries but these were the kind of students that had been introduced to us back in Attack of the Clones. It was a brilliant set-up.Whilst Yoda teased Obi-Wan about losing a planet, these Jedi kids were the backdrop with an air of charm about them. For Anakin to come and murder them all (or the next class) in ROTS, it was a chilling, chilling moment and perhaps was one of the darkest moments in all of the saga. How can you hate such great storytelling? It's all about the handsRevenge of the Sith featured4 hands being cut off in the film.Anakin loses one to Obi-Wan,Mace Winduloses one to Anakin and Obi-Wan cuts two of General Grievous' robot arms off.Fun fact: Darth Vader was actually the only Star Wars film character to lose anarm three times! And both his legs as well. Count Dooku got Anakin's arm in Attack of the Clones before Yoda stepped in and saved the young Jedi.Obi-Wan Kenobi then got 3 of Anakin's limbs in Revenge of the Sith! (He had the higher ground...).Lucas does a HitchcockGeorge Lucas made his first Star Wars cameo in Revenge of the Sith. He dressed as a Pantoran senator, Baron Papanoida. You might not have recognised him as he all dressed up in blue body paint! His daughter also cameoed with him at the same time. And let's not forget Jett as the Padawan Jedi that tried to escape with Bail Organa. That was a bad ass moment as it showed the faith the Jedi had in themselves and their padawan. Some of the thinking that went into the movie was truly awesome film makingMoff Tarkin's cameoA quick character cameo occurs when Vader and the Emperor are standing on the bridge of a Star Destroyer, overlooking the initial construction stage of the Death Star.In a blink and you'll miss it moment, a young Moff Tarkin quietly sidles up to the Sith Lords. Tarkin was also brought back to the silver screen in Rogue One.The suggestion Plagueis and Palpatine may have conspired to cause Anakin to be bornDuring the opera scene, Palpatine tells Anakin about how Darth Plagueis was so powerful he could create life. While it's never made explicit, the film could have been suggesting that Darth Plagueis caused the 'immaculate conception' of Anakin Skywalker. The Expanded Universe novels show that Plagueis certainly was capable of such an amazing act... The 'goodbye, old friend' farewell between Anakin and Obi_WanAs General Kenobi is about to depart to track and take down the robot General Grevious, he shares a nice moment with Anakin which ends with a very loving, 'Good bye old friend' from Kenobi. This is the last time in the movie the two Jedi converse as friends. But what's so special here? Check the lighting that casts over the players - Anakin resides in the dark and Obi Wan is awash in the light - it is a literal case of foreshadowing what was to come for each character. An eye for detailAfter Padme dies as a result of her 'broken heart', her body is returned to the planet Naboo for ceremony and burial befitting a former queen. - her body has been altered to make it appear like she was still pregnant - this is all part of the ruse to keep the existence of Leia and Luke a secret. The epic sword fight between Vader and Obi WanFor this writer, the duel on Mustapha is Lucas's crowning glory as a CGI whiz and story teller. It goes back to the truth/lies that were spun by Obi-Wan to Luke on Tatooine.Vader killed your father? Not quite kid, but I actually cut off his arm and legs and left him to die.Concept art by Ryan ChurchBut the sword fight was epic.It was fast and furious and nothing like the duel the two had in A New Hope (this wasn't because they were old hacks, it was because of the era in which the movie was made). The fight meant everything to the movie and it had to be good because everybody knew that both swordsman lived so it had to end very well. And Lucas delivered with Anakin's arrogance leaving him missing his limbs bar his mechanical arm.So those are the reasons that Revenge of the Sith has become my favourite Star Wars movie, my go-to movie if you will.Maybe I'll fall in love with A New Hope again or get lost in the darkness of Empire but for the moment, I can't get enough of Sith!In more modern times, this movie ties in with The Clone Wars series so well. The Final of TCW intertwines throughout some key moments of this film, making it even more amazing.Darth Vader quotes that show he was the worst Sith Lord ever (but possibly the greatest Jedi!)If you had to think of the most loved, most famous movie villain in all of movie history, you would be hard-pressed to go pastStar War's Darth Vader.A New Hope introduced him as the meanest, most badass and mysterious bad guy ever. His place in movie history was assured when he became one half of a conversation that was to be one of the biggest plot twists in movie historywith the reveal of him being Luke's father and by the time Return of the Jedi rolled around he proved to actually be theChosen One.There's basically him andErnst Stavro BlofeldfromJames Bondand maybeThe Terminator. But even then the T-800 turned to the light...Did you ever think Lord Vader was supposed to be Darth Sidious' apprentice and they were to rule the world together? Betraying your Sith Lord Master must be the ultimate betrayal right? (It's almost expected by the Sith).Well Vader already betrayed the Jedi when he took part inOrder 66so what s one more betrayal? Just add it to the list right?Or maybe not...Vader in Return of the JediPalpatine intimates toAnakin during Revenge of the Siththat Darth Sidious killed his master while he slept so maybe that s what the Sith do to each other. After all, Palpatine also set up Count Dooku as an apprentice only to deliberately set him up so that Anakin Skywalker could behead the poor chap this was so as to give Anakin a chance to dip his toes into the murky depths of the dark side ..Sure, the prequels introduced Anakin as a screechy, whinnying idealistic young boy that hates sand but let's put that aside for now - here are thebest Darth Vader quotesfrom the four movies the character was in.Given he wasn't really one for long inspirational speeches, he sure had a way with words that made him very quotable. The Force is strong with this one!The original Star Wars (A New Hope) I find your lack of faith disturbing - says the Dark Lord after appearing to be openly mocked by Officers on board the Death Star. Vader challenges one of them to a force choke competition, naturally he went first... it's arguably one of Vader's most famous quotes."When I left you I was but the learner. Now I am the master." - Vader tauntsObi Wan, his Jedi teacher and former friend just before he kills him in the slowest sword fighter ever."The Force is strong with this one."Vader is commenting on the skills of anX-Wingpilot that is trying to blow up the Death Star, not realising he's trying to kill his own son."We would be honored if you would join us" - Vader mocks Han, Leia and Chewie when the trap on Cloud City is revealed. It's perhaps the only joke Vader makes in the saga other than the one he does as he chokes out Director Krennic in Rogue One. I am altering the deal, pray I do not alter it any further -Vader tells Lando how it is from beneath his black helmet. Han is going with Boba Fett and everyone else is Vader's."Impressive. Most impressive. Obi-Wan has taught you well. You have controlled your fear. Now, release your anger. Only your hatred can destroy me." -Vader praises Luke after he manages to escape Vader's trap with an acrobatic flip."No, I am your father!" -And so revealed was one of cinema's greatest plot twists that Vader was actually Luke's old man. Here's the full conversation which happened just after thefather cut off the son's hand:Darth Vader: There is no escape. Don't make me destroy you. Luke, you do not yet realize your importance. You have only begun to discover your power. Join me, and I will complete your training. With our combined strength, we can end this destructive conflict and bring order to the galaxy.Luke Skywalker: I'll never join you!Vader: If you only knew the power of the Dark Side.Obi-Wannever told you what happened to your father.Luke: He told me enough! He told me you killed him!Vader: No. I am your father.Luke: No...no. That's not true. That's impossible!Vader: Search your feelings, you know it to be true!Luke: Noooo! Nooooo! I hope so for your sake, the Emperor is not as forgiving as I am - This was the end of Vader's pep talk with theJerjerrod who has in command of the second Death Star. Was it a slight joke by Vader to encourage the completion of the battle station or merely a statement of fact?"Give yourself to the Dark Side. It is the only way you can save your friends. Yes, your thoughts betray you. Your feelings for them are strong. Especially for... sister. So, you have a twin sister."Your feelings have now betrayed her, too. Obi-Wan was wise to hide her from me. Now his failure is complete. If you will not turn to the Dark Side... then perhaps she will..."This taunt from the Sith Lord was perhaps not the finest thing he could have done. While he was trying to enrage Luke enough to open the door to the Dark Side for him he miscalculated and Luke finally bested him.In reply to Luke's"I'll not leave you here. I've got to save you."Anakin says"You already have, Luke."Having proven that he was indeed the Chosen One by killing the Emperor and restoring balance to the Force, Vader perhaps single-handedly* became the worst Sith and greatest Jedi at the same time.Hisconversation with Lukeis perhaps the most emotional moment of all the Star Wars films, given the weight behind it.And then we come to Revenge of the Sith whereAnakin Skywalkersuccumbs to the Dark Side and becomes Lord Darth Vader. When he awakes from his reconstruction after losing his duel with Obi-Wan Kenobi his first thought is for his love, for whom he apparently thought he was making his most recent 'life choices' for:"Where is Padme? Is she safe? Is she all right?"Palpatine's answer doesn't impress him much!"Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!"Rogue One quotesVader was brought back for the Rogue One prequel movie - even though he had minimal screen time, his cameo was awesome!"Be careful not to choke on your aspirations, Director."This was a simple, yet brilliant line in the film.Director Orsen Krennic was a vainglorious man, who had stopped at nothing to achieve his goal of building the Death Star and thus currying favour with Emperor Palpatine. He had killed the wife of his best friend (Galen) to do so. He was hell-bent on rising the ranks further in the Empire. And then he ran into Darth Vader and found in him against a wall of man/machine that hindered his own Imperial March.Vader then literally chokes him as he says the line, we get the wonderful interplay of the classic Darth Vader Force choking a member of his own team which is obviously crushing the advance of Krennic. This makes Krennic even more desperate at the end of the film...The Emperor is a cruel master and we learned during this film that he had been manipulating Ben Solo since day one. Snoke was a puppet clone that he had used to influence Ben and when Darth Vader spoke to him through the mask, it was Palpatine all along. Here's the line in TROS that he revealed this knowledge to Kylo Ren:"At last, my boy. I have been every voice, you ve ever heard, inside your head."This was superbly delivered in the film - the line begins with Palpatine and then turns into a mix of Darth Vader and Snoke's voices. What a mind trick to have played on the last Skywalker!Best quotes Darth Vader said to Luke SkywalkerNothing like an awkward father-son dynamic on which to base one of the greatest film trilogies of all time..."No, I am your father!""Impressive, most impressive""That name no longer has any meaning for meIt is... too late for me, son. The Emperor will show you the true nature of the Force. He is your master now""You cannot hide forever, Luke""Sister. So, you have a twin sister""Tell your sister you were right" (as Anakin Skywalker)"You already have, Luke"Best quotes Emperor Palpatine said to VaderVader often used a good chat with his apprentice to outline his plots for the audience..."We have a new enemy: the young rebel who destroyed the Death Star. I have no doubt this boy is the offspring of Anakin Skywalker. "The Force is strong with him. The son of Skywalker must not become a Jedi. If he could be turned, he would become a powerful ally. "It seems, in your anger, you killed her."I was introducing the kids to the new Disney + Plus releases of the Caravan of Courage and its sequel Battle for Endor when the Condor Dragon that captures Cindel in the sequel reminded me of something. And once I released I could not stop making the connection, the Dragon looks like Watto from The Phantom Menance:Sure, it's a stretch and a bit of fun and for sure the movies were indeed fun to watch with the kids.Indeed, Wikipedia suggests Watto was inspired by several things, but not this film!Caravan of Courage has held a place in my heart since I saw it at the movies in Hastings, New Zealand A LONG time ago... on paper, it's a great story (indeed George Lucas has the story credit), on-screen it's a happy mumble-jumble of Ewok fun. The same can be said of Battle for Endor.Fun Fact:In The Battle for Endor, the Nightsister known as 'Charal' was played by Sian Phillips. She played the Reverend Mother Gaius Helen Mohiam in the 1984 film version of Dune. The Dune novel was a massive influence on Lucas's original Star Wars script. The Nightsisters concept eventually made its way into an episode of The Clone Wars.May the 4th has become a big Star Wars celebration event. While you can celebrate Star Wars any day, May the 4th is a nod to the famousMay the Force Be With You quote from the original A New Hope film which is then uttered in nearly every Star Wars film by one character or another. So here are 7 things you can do to celebrate Star Wars!Pass it forwardIntroduce a friend who has never seen Star Wars to one of the greatest space operas that there has ever been! Why not explore one of these works that inspired and influence Star Wars? You could even watch George Lucas's first science fiction film, THX 1138. You did know about that one right?Explore the concept art of Ralph McQuarrie and Doug ChiangRalph was the artist that helped Lucas design the world of Star Wars. From the first drawing sketches of our favourite droids, the creation of Darth Vader and the Rancor in Jedihe was across a lot of the design in the original trilogy. For the prequels, Doug Chiang become the new lead concept designer and gave us these wonderful creations:Roger, rogerThe work that went into designing the Attack of Clones was simply incredible.Dress up as your favorite character!A bit of Star Wars cosplay never hurt anybody so grab your glad rags and dress up as a hero or villain as you like!Consider this thought:Some people can get really into plot holes in films. Most films have them. Our view is to take the films as they are and enjoy them accordingly.Or you could jump off the deep end into the plot holes of The Last Jedi. Word of mouth spread very quickly as to how could this movie was.It went, in the modern internet sense, viral and people very quickly became infected with just how good the movie was! And pictures like the above were the result. The rest is history as people loved the film and started queuingto see the film again and again.Positive word of mouth spread and the media picked up on the movie. Like Jaws, it literally became a blockbuster as seen by these pictures of people lining up around the block. In 70mm reports that Star Wars was "An immediate sensation, "Star Wars" (which TIME Magazine proclaimed "The Year's Best Movie" only five months into the year) accumulated incredible per-screen averages and broke numerous box office and attendance records at the few locations lucky enough to have been playing the movie. The film industry was abuzz, and exhibitors everywhere couldn't wait to get their hands on a print. The film's distributor, 20th Century-Fox, had the lab cranking out prints as fast as they could as they accelerated their plans for a broad, nationwide release of the film."Eventually, the film was shown at over 1000 film theatres across the States and became the greatest box office hit in history, beating Jaws that came two years before in 1975.The time between the ending of Rogue One and the beginning of A New HopeRogue One provided the view with an amazing ending to an amazing movie by ways of a mild plot twist where Princess Leia's was revealed to be on Admiral Raddus's Flagship. After a fraught moment of Darth Vader battling his way through Rebels trying to secure the Death Star plans, the Tantive IV makes an escape.Cut to the famous opening scene of Star Wars (now known as ANH) and Vader's Star Destroyer is bearing down on the Corvette. This begs the question, how much time has passed between the ending of Rogue One and the beginning of A New Hope? Was it minutes or hours?Let's take a step back.Remember in Rogue One, Mon Mothma, and Bail Organa discuss a certain Jedi and their need for his help. Organa implies he knew just the person to go get him from Tatooine. Unfortunately, the timing did not go well, the Tantive IV was laid up in repairs, docked within the forward bay of Admiral Raddus s flagship, the Profundity. It thus accompanied Raddus s fleet to Scarif, along for the ride as the Rebel flotilla engaged the Imperial defenders. As we know, the Tantive IV managed to get away with the plans. Vader's Devastator tracked the Tantive IV, though, through hyperspace, and follow it to Tatooine. Dropping out of hyperspace, the Corvette could not keep the Imperial Star Destroyer at bay and was overtaken in a high-orbit gunfight, which visible at least to some residents of Tatooine below. In a cut scene from ANH hope, the young Luke Skywalker observes the fracas from the sands of Tattoine. While we do not know the exact distance between the planets of Scarif to Tatooine the time between the two key moments of the escape and then capture, may have been one to several hours. That the Tantive IV was on the Profundity also gives an explanation for how R2D2 and C3PO managed to be on board the IV given their brief cameo at the Rebel Base. They simply boarded the ship before it left for the battle of Scarif.10 things you might not know about the Rebel AllianceThe Rebel Alliance was one of the key groups from which meany heroes sprang in the Star Wars saga.Think Leia but also Wedge, Bail Organa and Admiral "It's a trap Ackbar" and of course the heroes of Rogue One, Jyn Erso, Andors, Saw and our fave, K-2SO.Here's some facts about the Alliance that you might not have known.Luke's helmet with red Starbird symbolMon Mothma, who made a brief appearance in Return of the Jedi and had a bigger role in Rogue One was one of the original founders of the Alliance. This was of course in response to Chancellor Palpatine declaring himself Emperor. The Revenge of the Sith had some deleted scenes which showed Organa Bail and Mon Mothma having primary talks with Padme about building an alliance. In A New Hope, Leia is the leader of the Alliance, having followed in her adopted father's footsteps - the deep steps of Bail Organa. It has been suggested that Palpatine pushed for the Alliance to be formed himself. This Machiavellian masterstroke was that following the Clone Wars, it gave him another target to which the Empire could legitimately attack. This would assist with the Emperor as being seen to perform the functions of the Emperor - protecting his people (so to speak)."Rebel scum" was the popular insult that Imperialists used towards members of the Alliance. It reminds us of Ireland's Troubles. The symbol of the Rebel Alliance is called the "Starbird" and is sometimes described as a rising Phoenix. It was adopted in recognition of the work Galen Marek did in helping found the Alliance. It was originally the Marek family's emblem. This name should not be confused with Galen from Rogue One. This probably means the original reasoning for this alliance symbol is no longer canon but until George Lucas personally calls me on this point, it's staying. After the Alliance had learned of the Death Star's existence a military campaign commanded by Princess Leia was hatched to steal the schematics of the battle station. The operation was known as Operation Skyhook. It failed and that failure is effectively the opening scene of A New Hope. Or did it fail? This part of the story has been turned into Rogue One.After the Alliances evacuation from the planet Hoth, the Rebels took a more mobile approach using Admiral Ackbar's flagship, the Home One was used as their headquarters. The Alliance's victory over the Empire in the Battle of Endor naturally meant the end of the Empire as Palpatine was dead. In response, the Alliance reformed as the New Republic and began to build towards a more democratic union of planets, not that this was an easy thing! In The Force Awakens, the Rebels lead by Commander Leia Organa are no longer considered rebels, they are the Resistance. The Alliance's logo or emblem can often be spotted in the movies - keep an eye out for it on many of the pilot's helmets. When the tree burns in The Last Jedi, the flames make the symbol:Here's a picture of a Rebel helmet:Also the rebel symbol was used brilliantly in this Russian version of Rogue One marketing poster. Check the shadow....and then order the poster from Amazon! What the original Millennium Falcon design originally looked likeHere's a pretty awesome early concept design of what was to become the Millennium Falcon.Obviously, it's the work of the great Ralph McQuarrie - it would have been amazing to spend a day in his mind. It's been famously suggested that the ship that became the famous design was inspired by Lucas seeing a burger with an olive tagged on to it but we doubt it very much.If you're wondering where you may have seen this before, it's from The Star Wars graphic novel which J M Rinzler wrote using some of the very first drafts of what became Star Wars:P.S. Did you ever wonder how the Millenium Falcon got its name?Plot points you may have missed in the Star Wars movies I came across this pretty cool factoid about Star Wars the other day, that being the scruffy nerfherder called Han Solo is the only non-Jedi to use a lightsaber in the entire Original Trilogy of Star Wars. That is the moment on Hoth when he uses Luke s saber to slice open the guts of Luke s recently dead Taun-taun.I thought it was pretty cool and mused that that was something every Star Wars fan NEEDs to know.Well, this was was until Finn came along in The Force Awakens...but he does appear to be Force sensitive in TROS...If you've seen Star Wars a million times before, you may have picked this up but it got me wondering as well, what other completely obvious things have fans missed even though those things have been staring them in the face since the movies first hit the silver screen? (Are screens still silver? Ed)So, we ve covered off the Han thing how about something from Jedi - the word Ewok is never mentioned in Return of the Jedi at all!Luke Skywalker is irrelevant to the last half of the movie. If you think about it, in terms of destroying the Empire, Luke didn t need to be on the Death Star as Lando Calrissian had that covered the Emperor and Vader operating as two Sith Lords working in tandem to rule the Galaxy would have been destroyed when Lando blew up the Death Star. Right? *Grand Moff Tarkin plays a very small cameo in Revenge of the Sith. He steps out from the side to silently confer with the Emperor and Vader under the shadow of an image of the Death Star being built. In A New Hope, Leia was kept captive on the Death Star in cell number 2187. This was a deliberate choice as 2187 is the year that the Lucas directed film THX 1138, was set.Several E.T. like creatures are found in The Phantom Menace. Guess someone managed to phone home? It was a kind of payback to his good friend Steven Spielberg who put Yoda in E.T and some other Star Wars references. In Jedi, listen very carefully as Darth Vader picks up the Emperor and throws him down the Death Star shaft. This is the only time the Jedi theme music plays over a shot of Vader, reflecting his return to the light side of the Force.R2D2 s height is 96cm tall.Vader was actually the only Star Wars film character to lose an arm three times! And both his legs as well. Obi-Wan Kenobi got 3 of his limbs in Revenge of the Sith! The Bantha milk drank by Luke and Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru in A New Hope is blue! The milk also made an appearance at the Erso's kitchen in Rogue One.Chewbacca doesn't say a word of English...Luke's ship is considered too damaged to fly in The Last Jedi (so Luke needs to Force project himself to Crait) yet in the Rise of Skywalker, all he needs to do is raise it from the sea floor and suddenly it is capable of flying Rey to Exogol... go figure.Well, to be fair some of these points were not hugely obvious (don t force choke us!) but they were pretty cool none-the-less. Were there any we missed or where they too subtle?* The counter to this claim is of course that Luke cut off Vader's hand andrealizeshe's tapped into the darkside of the Force and is about to become what his father was. His refusal to join the dark side enrages the Emperor so that he decides to kill Luke. Fearing his son was about to die, Vader then fulfilled the prophecy of him being the Chosen One by killing the Emperor thus restoring balance to the Force. IF Luke had not fought Vader in this manner, it is reasonable to argue that Vader and more likely the Emperor would not have been distracted and would have focused their efforts on the Rebel assault on the Death Star and wiped them out using the armada of Star Destroyers that were waiting on the periphery of the battle. Thus meaning Luke was actually central to the plot of Return of the Jedi. Suck it nerf herders!Extra for Experts:10 truly chilling moments from Star Wars that raise the hairs on your neck.Sweet facts about Qui Gon Jinn, the best thing about Phantom Menace10 Darth Vader quotes that show he was the greatest Jedi that livedCase in point, the conversations the characters have with each other are intended to be 'hokey' like the classic shows of the Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers television era.If C3PO and R2 aren't arguing like an old married couple, Leia was sassing Luke for being a little bit short even though she was held captive on the Death Star and had just seen her homeworld Alderaan blown up.So here are a few of the strange, odd and wonderful quirks of Star Wars:Han Solo grabs Princess Leia s breasts in the middle of the Battle of Endor. He was perhaps checking she was still wearing this. Harrison Ford also pulled a similar movie on the Falcon in The Empire Strikes Back. The scruffy scoundrel... and let's not forget the infamous nipple slip Lucas left in in Jedi.WhenJango Fettgets into his ship after his fight with Obi-Wan Kenobi in Attack of the Clones, he bangs his head on the open door. This was intentional and is a reference to a famous goof from the original movie where a cloned Stormtrooper accidentally bangs his head on a door (the clone being the descendant of Jango Fett and having inherited this character trait). The Holiday Special. What about that Space Porn Simulation eh? Oddly, things from the Special have influenced films such as Solo and The Mandalorian show! In Solo, Chewbacca's father's name isAttichitcuk, as it was in the Special. Why in The Empire Strikes does Old Ben say, that boy is our last hope when he already knows that Leia is his brother and then Yoda has to spell it out to him? Did he have no faith in Leia? When E.T. characters turns up in The Phantom Menace! When we learned that R2D2 could flyin Revenge of the Sith. What the heck?? That little trick could have been handy many times in the original trilogy! When during the Battle of Hoth, the Rebels decided to flee the planet by flying directly into the path of the Imperial Fleet and Vader. Why do this when they could have gone off in any direction and they could have all split up? Weird battle strategy! Extra fun fact: The line 'the first transport is away!" was spoken by Mark Hamill. Nipple cannons indeed.Speaking of nipple slips in Star Wars...Darth Vader's black suit was actually inspired by Nazi uniforms. This strange thing nearly happened. The original Rogue squad unit had a giant green alien called Senna and a Lunka. They were paired as a duo but ultimately dropped - they did get as far as being designed - see the above concept art!In A New Hope, Leia was kept captive on the Death Star in prison cell number 2187. This was a deliberate choice as 2187 is the year that the George Lucas directed cult film THX 1138, was set.Yoda s species has never been mentioned. In official records, he is simply an unknown species . He'll always be Kermit's ugly cousin to us.The Last Jedi - Luke decides he needs to kill his nephew in a moment of weakness. Say what?
