Home How do we do it? A broad measure of the success of any scholarly publisher is its reputation in the wider scholarly publishing community, as well as among key stakeholder groups. In the first instance, the HSRC Press has certainly become the most productive publisher of scholarly works in South Africa and the rest of Africa. In the second instance, the Press is increasingly becoming a sought-after outlet for leading academic authors to publish and disseminate their work.External peer-review processes are critical to ensuring the quality and scientific rigour of scholarly works. The double-blind peer reviews of manuscripts by the Editorial Board before any decision is taken to publish is a crucial quality-assurance stage within the Press’s publishing programme and activities. New releases Worldwide, countries have to respond to local and global socio-technological shifts and needs, specifically the transformations wrought by a rapidly shifting understanding of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. What does it take for entrepreneurs to be effective competitors? What are the factors affecting entry and participation in sectors where there are historically strong incumbent firms? Opening the South African Economy brings to light the challenges of concentration, inequality and exclusion in different sectors of the South African economy. Working Class Homosexuality in South African History provides the first scholarly outline for the development of a narrative of same-sex working class African men. The book’s core analytic thrust centres around a previously unpublished primary source from the early twentieth century as well as unique oral history interviews with men remembering their lives in the gay settlement of Mkhumbane. Connected lives: Families, households, health and care in contemporary South Africa, illustrates the changing constitution and the variability of households, fluid understandings of family, and the impact of these in the context of life changes and health problems.<<< Thank you for your visit >>>
