We’re dedicated to the rehabilitation and conservation of birds of prey in the area as well as the occasional song bird or waterfowl. Made up completely of volunteers, the clinic sees well over 150 birds a year, and that number is growing as the need increases and more people know about our organization. Founded in 2015, The R.A.R.E Group has seen many different species from a small baby sparrow to a migrating Snowy Owl! Everyday around the clinic is an adventure and there is never a dull moment, stay up to date with the latest happenings on our BLOG. If you are interested in helping out and getting involved please feel free to look around the site; check out our wishlist, donate or fill out a volunteer application.Meet Our Education BirdsEducation is one of the best ways to protect our feathered friends. Learning about the impact humans can have on wildlife, as well as the role wildlife and humans play, will enable better land stewardship practices in Iowa and beyond. We have a few friends that help us out when it is comes to education.Get InvolvedTaking care of sick and injured birds is no easy task. The R.A.R.E group is run solely by volunteers and is a non-profit; meaning all the money and equipment used to run our clinic comes from donations and grants. If this is an area that interests you, there are MANY ways to help out, and all of it is very much appreciated!INJURED BIRD?CALL US:319-248-9770If you have found an injured bird the most effective way to contact us is by calling our hotline number above. Please include your name number. We check voice messages between the hours of 8:00AM and 5:00PM. Email and Facebook messages may not be check as frequently as voice messages. In the meantime, the best thing to do is keep the bird calm, contained in a box with ventilation, warm and covered until brought in.The RARE Group is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit tax-exempt organization (effective 11/30/2015).All contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
