We received 129 applications from 20 countries across five continents. Ten First Round Winners were selected to attend a Design Sprint in March 2016 where they further refined their applications with coaching from our advisors. After much consideration, the following five teams (listed in no particular order) were selected to share in a 2 million AUD fund for running pilot projects in the Pacific.Pacific Drone Imagery Dashboard (PacDID) – Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team Pacific Local Supplier Engagement Project – Australian Red Cross The Firetail: An Easily-Deployed Low-Cost Unmanned Aerial System – Firetail UAS Mobile SME Insurance in the Pacific Islands – BIMA Leapfrog Infrastructure-Independent Mobile Communications – Flinders University New Zealand Red CrossSince then the five winning teams have been piloting and implementing their innovative solutions in the Pacific, working alongside local and global organisations to realise the potential of their ideas, while collecting and sharing invaluable learning that will help us continue to rethink humanitarian response.
