Description:

We connect and transform communities by sharing and amplifying the stories, ideas, experiences, and traditions of the diverse people of Nevada. Humanities Heart to HeartReflections on life during the COVID-19 pandemic We envision a Nevada where people thrive in just and healthy communities, where diverse perspectives are welcomed; we work to make this a reality. Nevada Humanities produces and supports humanities-based educational and cultural programs that articulate the Nevada experience, feature local culture and heritage, and facilitate the investigation of ideas that matter to the people of Nevada and their communities. Upcoming Events Nevada Humanities invites the people of Nevada to connect, understand, and engage with the vibrant communities, diverse cultures, and rich histories that make up the Silver State. Our statewide programs and events articulate the Nevada experience through local culture and heritage, encourage intellectual curiosity, and explore today’s issues that matter to the people of Nevada.Learn More 2020 presented Nevada Humanities with the opportunity to transform and shift our programming online. In case you missed some of our virtual events in the blur of 2020, we invite you to look back in a retrospect of our 2020 virtual events on our YouTube channel. A lofty premise! but I stand behind it. By Staff of Nevada HumanitiesAt Nevada Humanities, we create and fund programs that use the humanities to illuminate our diverse histories and chart a path forward in a dramatically changing world. We know the critical role that the humanities play in nurturing just and healthy communities, in connecting people, providing space for diverse perspectives, and strengthening our community bonds with deeper intellectual and cultural engagement. By Michael GreenThe obituary stood out to me: Frederick Hesse Stitt, Jr. It noted that he was 62, well liked, and overcame addiction. I knew all that. I met him at the gym, and he gave me a greater gift than he realized. That I would recognize a name in the obituary column probably is unsurprising. I write and teach about Las Vegas history, and I’m likely to know some names that others would miss. Since 1971, Nevada Humanities has created and funded cultural and educational programs that connect Nevadans and share our diverse stories. In a time of global crisis, we need to connect and understand our experiences now more than ever. Please support the work of Nevada Humanities as we cultivate resilient communities by bringing Nevadans together to chart a path towards community health and recovery.
