Lompoc Museum has two floors of exhibits on the history of the Lompoc Valley. The Museum was established in Lompoc’s former Carnegie Library in 1969 to 1970 display the Clarence Ruth Collection of Chumash and other Native American artifacts. Additional collections and displays on the Pioneer and Natural History of the area have been added. "World War I Monument" Newly repaired and enhanced with the addition of a stamped plaza, benches, and planters, the monument is located on the grounds of the Lompoc Museum and inscribed with the words “In Honor of Our World War Heroes.” Originally dedicated in 1925 to honor Lompoc’s fallen soldiers, the repaired granite memorial was re-dedicated November 11, 2018 to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the Great War. A life-sized bronze eagle and bronze bas relief sculpture of a doughboy soldier completes the monument. For more information on the project, please visit us on Facebook. The permanent exhibit, “Lompoc Goes to War” includes WWI memorabilia and information about the Lompoc soldiers who served during “The War to End All Wars”.
