As a fraternal, non-profit boating organization serving central South Carolina(known locally as the Midlands and home of the state capital, Columbia). our three-part mission includes the promotion of boating safety through education, civic service, and the enjoyment of boating (power and sail) activities and social functions among our membership. Originally known as Congaree Power Squadron, Lake Murray Power Squadron is part of something larger— the United States Power Squadrons, which was organized in 1914 as a non-profit, educational organization dedicated to making boating safer and more enjoyable by teaching classes in seamanship, navigation and related subjects. Our members are boating families who contribute to their communities by promoting safe boating through education. We enjoy participating with our fellow members on the water and in the classroom. We are America's Boating Clubof Lake Murray. USPS has some 35,000 members organized into more than 350 squadrons across the country and in some U.S. territories.
