About UsFutures for Women is a registered charity (No. 313700) formerly known as the Society for Promoting the Training of Women.Our charity was established in 1859 by suffragist Jessie Boucherett to encourage women towards economic independence through employment and this objective still underpins our activities today. Please visit our History page to find out how our charity has developed over the past 160 years. Futures for Women is currently part-funding The Sharan Project to run an employability programme in Birmingham. Please note that applications for interest-free loans for further education and training are no longer being accepted. The Sharan Project employability programme During 2019 and 2020 Futures for Women is part-funding The Sharan Project to run a series of two-week courses in conjunction with the training provider Go Train and the charity Smart Works, to help women participants find employment. The women come from South Asian communities in the city and have experienced domestic violence, forced marriages or other forms abuse.
