Here are just some facts to scare you a bit too, so I wont suffer alone:Sugar ruins your health, suppresses your immune system, decreases emotional stability, speeds up the aging process, increases your risk of getting cancer, heart problems, contributes to diabetes, can lead to osteoporosis, hurt your eyesight, and can cause arthritis. (And that just the top of the iceberg. See a lovely inspiring article athttp://nancyappleton.com/141-reasons-sugar-ruins-your-health/)In 2009, more than 50 percent of all Americans consume one-half pound of sugar PER DAYtranslating to a whopping180 pounds of sugar per year!Sugar is loaded into your soft drinks, fruit juices, sports drinks, and hidden in almost all processed foodsfrom bologna to pretzels to Worcestershire sauce to cheese spread. And now most infant formula has the sugar equivalent of one can of Coca-Cola, so babies are being metabolically poisoned from day one if taking formula.Sugar is contributing to35 million deaths worldwide each year due to obesity and diseases like diabetes, heart disease and cancer.Eating fructose is far worse than eating fat. Fructose elevates uric acid, which decreases nitric oxide, raises angiotensin, and causes your smooth muscle cells to contract, thereby raising your blood pressure and potentially damaging your kidneys.Sugar is addictive just as cocaine, nicotine and alcohol. That white, powdery substance just makes you feel good. You cant get it off your mind, and you keep coming back for more. The more you have it, the more you want it! But even when you try to stay away from it, it finds ways to sneak into your life almost daily.Ok, enough of horrors
Heres how you can tell if you consume too much sugar:
You experience sugar cravings or carb cravingsYourenergy spikes and dips throughout the dayYou feel fatigue, lethargy, depression or anxietyYou have brain fog, cloudy thinking, trouble concentratingYour hunger goes from mild to intense very quicklyIf any of these statements is true then you need to pay close attention to what youre eating. Sugar cravings are not easy to control and it seems like the best way to do it is to do asugar detox, so your sugar level would return to normal.
Here are some sites for sugar detox or just google sugar detox:
http://www.livestrong.com/sugar-detox/

Winter is well upon us. Its the time of year that calls for layering your clothes, scarves, hats, and gloves. And as we change the type of clothing and outerwear we wear, hair and body regimen tweaks are something to also consider. The cooler and drier it gets outside the more prone our hair and skin are to dryness and the more it craves moisture.
Here are a few tips for keeping both hair and skin moisturized:
Shampoo Less: frequent shampooing strips hair of sebum. Try shampooing every other week instead. Or if your hair is prone to build-up try co-washing (conditioner only washing) in between shampoo sessions.
Beware of Breakage: If you are seeing breakage in a couple places vs all over (for example just around your edges) It may have nothing to do with how youre currently caring for your hair, but much more with what you wear on it. Wool hats and scarves rob hair of moisture and cause it to break. Try placing a satin cap or scarf under your wool hat or tuck hair in a bun to help keep it off of harsh wool coat collars.

A Mind Without Vision...
Recently during a briefing at work one of the presenters told a story about how her teenage son made a vision board because he wanted to purchase a car. On the board he posted a picture of the car along with some other goals he wanted to achieve. He placed the board somewhere he would constantly see it. And long story short, he was finally able to purchase the car he wanted. This young man was focused. Constantly having a reminder that he saw daily was surely a help to maintain his focus.
The truth of the matter is, your consciousness can shape reality. What you focus on will generally take root, grow and manifest itself. While learning and executing YAHs law should always be at the forefront of our minds, as Proverbs 29v18 tells us Were there is no vision, the people are let loose, But blessed is he who guards the Torah.
So I thought, how can I implement something like this. Having a plate full of deadlines, commitments, a long list of responsibilities, and etc can leave you discombobulated and frazzled. Making a vision board may just be what I need to help narrow my focus and quiet my conscious enough to achieve both short and long term goals. The next obvious question is... well, how do I make a vision board! :)

RECIPE: Slow Cooker Beef Pot Roast
Ingredients

1 (5lb) bone-in beef pot roast
1 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (maybe more)1 tablespoon tomato paste2 1/2 cups chicken broth2 tablespoons vegetable oilsalt pepper to taste
(optional to taste)3 medium carrots (cut into chunks)2 stalks celery (cut into chunks1 sprig fresh rosemary2 sprigs fresh thyme2 cloves garlic, minced1 tablespoon butter (or more)1 medium onion, chopped8 ounces sliced mushroom
DirectionsGenerously season both sides of roast with salt and pepper. Sprinkle flour over the top until well coated, and pat it into the meat. Shake off any excess.Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Sear the roast on both sides for 5-6 minutes each, until well browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.Reduce the heat to medium and stir in mushrooms and butter; cook for 3-4 minutes.Stir in onion; cook for 5 minutes, until onions are translucent and begin to brown. Add garlic, stir for about a minute.Stir in 1 1/2 tablespoons flour; cook and stir for about 1 minute. Add tomato paste, and cook for another minute.Slowly add chicken stock, stir to combine, and return to a simmer. Remove skillet from the heat.Place carrots and celery in the slow cooker. Place roast over the vegetables and pour in any accumulated juices. Add rosemary and thyme.Pour onion and mushroom mixture over the top of the roast. Cover slow cooker, turn to high and cook the roast for 5-6 hours, until the meat is fork tender.Skim off any fat from the surface and remove the bones. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Note: Not in the mood for a roast, get cubed chucks of beef and follow the same directions for a tasty beef stew. Add McCormicks Beef Stew Seasoning and/or potatoes. Also, while this particular recipe calls for 5-6 hours in the slow cooker, I usually cut my veggies sort of thick and set the slow cooker to 8 hours for super tender meat and savory veggies!2 comments: Frito-Lay Ingredient List

ShalomLadies,
Myfamily and I were out food shopping about a week ago, and I saw a NEW SweetItalian Turkey Sausage by Butterball and Perdue. I was so excited until I did what I normally doto all products I am about to purchase; READ THE LABELS!

I could have hit the floor when I saw Butterball and PerdueSausage contains PORK CASING, I said, Are you kidding me? I did not know, yourcompanies sold PORK, so why put your sausages in a PORK CASE? Thatlead me to further research on why would a company that sells NO PORK BASED productdecided to use PORK CASING. This is whatI found from the International Journal of FoodScience and Technology, Pork casings aremade from pig intestines, unlike sausages made with artificial casings, sausages made with pork casings have superiorflavor and aroma.
YOU KNOW I AM SCREAMING RIGHT!!!!!
During myresearch I found a great website that list CLEAN\UNCLEANFOODS. Please know I am posting this dueto my findings, if you have any questions; please contact the manufacturer ofthe product for further details. I DID NOT MAKE THIS LIST UP!

Also, I appreciatethem updating their list when a company changes their ingredients. One of my favorite snacks of all times, wason the unclean list, and now Frito Lay has stop using porcine(PORK ENZYMES) intheir Nacho Cheese Doritos; you guessed it I am doing my happy dance!!!
