He is the author of over 40 books, including his latest book for everybody, ‘Surfing Safari through Science’ released in October 2020. In 2007 the first Booktown (Booktown for a Day) was held attracting over 6,000 visitors. Since then a two day festival, Clunes Booktown Festival has been held annually in May. Over 60 Book Traders from around Australia bring stock to the town and set up shop for the weekend. Street entertainment, food and wine, music and writer’s talks add to the festivities. Turning the stereotype of rural towns on its head: from slow, dusty and dry to a hub of ideas and the arts. Along with author talks and panel discussions, festival-goers can discover the largest collection of rare, out-of-print and collectible books in Australia, go inside heritage buildings, listen to live music, watch street performers, enjoy local wines and produce while meeting and interacting with literature lovers from far and wide. The Clunes Booktown Festival is all about celebrating books and the great conversations and big ideas that come from them. The Festival is turning the stereotype of rural towns on its head: from slow, dusty and dry to a hub of ideas and the arts. Each year, an army of local volunteers and a small team of staff, host the annual Clunes Booktown Festival, which attracts 15,000 people to enjoy the most amazing whole town bookshop in the world.
