What is divesting from fossil fuels?

Divestment is simply breaking your ties with an immoral industry — publicly committing to end any investments, sponsorship deals and partnerships.

The business plan of the fossil fuel industry is not compatible with a safe climate. We need to keep fossil fuels in the ground to avert a climate crisis.

So we're calling on institutions everywhere to take a stand and divest from fossil fuels. Every act of divestment helps to weaken the fossil fuel industry’s political and economic stranglehold over society and opens up more space for climate solutions to flourish.
