Non-Invasive Foot and Ankle Care

Don’t wait to seek help until your foot or ankle problem is serious.

Your feet and ankles are made up of dozens of bones, joints, muscles and ligaments that serve as the foundation for your entire body. Through education and conservative care, we can help you prevent sports injuries, musculoskeletal problems and diabetes-related foot diseases that can keep you from enjoying an active lifestyle.

We recommend that you do not use home remedies without first consulting a podiatrist. Self-diagnosing is often inaccurate and the wrong treatment can prolong or aggravate your problem.

Non-invasive foot and ankle care treatments include:

Casting: for fractures, deformities, clubfootCompression: for strains and sprainsSteroid injections: for arthritis, neuroma and plantar fasciitisDiagnostic ultrasound: to diagnose fractures or abnormalitiesFoot exercises: for arthritis, bunions, arch and heel pain, sprains and strainsMedication: for athletes foot, diabetic ulcers, fungus, limb salvaging, warts and woundsMoleskin padding: for corns, calluses, bunions and neuromasOrthotics: for flat feet, hammer toe, pronation and other foot conditionsSupportive footwear: for arthritis, bunions, geriatric foot care, hammer toeSplints to wear while you sleep: for hammer toe and plantar fasciitis

When our doctors recommend surgery as the best treatment for severe foot conditions, we provide minimally invasive procedures that get you back on your feet as quickly at possible.

Foot and Ankle Surgery

When conservative treatment has failed or you have a severe foot or ankle problem, we may recommend surgery. We always consider your age and activity level before making any recommendations.

Mark Simchuk, DPM, FACFAS

As a marathon runner, skier and cyclist, I know the importance of healthy, pain-free feet. It helps me understand my patients’ situations and empathize when foot injuries, wounds or chronic pain put them on the sidelines.

“I became fascinated with podiatry in college, when I first learned the complexity of feet, with all the tendons, ligaments and bones that create a moving platform we walk and run on. My goal and challenge as a doctor of podiatric medicine is to keep all those moving parts in good working order so you can enjoy your favorite activities for life.

“While sports medicine is an important part of my practice, I feel especially rewarded when I help patients with diabetic wounds and infections recover their mobility. For patients who require surgery, I offer significant training and expertise in limb salvage as well as surgeries that correct a variety of deformities of the foot.

“I see medicine as a collaborative process where we work together to give you the best outcome possible. I always take the time I need to understand both your lifestyle and condition and give you the time and support you deserve to understand and cope with your specific challenges.”

Dr. Simchuk lives in Grants Pass with his wife, Christine Meis, and their two children. He first discovered the beauty of Southern Oregon when opening his practice here in 1997. He has run in the Boston, New York and Chicago Marathons and has participated locally in the Cascade Lakes Relay and Pole Pedal Paddle.
