Victory: European Parliament vote in anti-deforestation legislation
Mighty Earth’s Dr Julian Oram looks back at the campaign waged by civil society groups to ensure natural rubber was included within the scope of the proposed new EU deforestation law. Mighty Earth has helped bring about a 90% decline in deforestation for palm oil. Our campaigns and Rapid Response satellite monitoring have helped drive this gigaton-scale climate win that’s protecting habitat for orangutans across Southeast Asia.
The number of acres committed by America’s largest meat company with improved agricultural practices. Mighty Earth took on America’s largest meat company, Tyson Foods, to improve basic climate and water practices. Following their commitment, we’re working on driving implementation.
35 chocolate and cocoa companies commit to protect national parks. We helped persuade major chocolate companies to act on deforestation, and are working with local civil society in West Africa to make sure they live up to their pledges.
