This is not surprising, since Ramsau am Dachstein is the ideal place to restore the body, mind and soul. This wonderful area of alpine pastures at the foot of the impressive south wall of the Dachstein, offers many hiking opportunities, fantastic lookout points as well as numerous mountain cabins. Ramsau am Dachstein is a top destination for cross-country skiers and has hosted many competitions including the Nordic World Championships. The 220 km long cross-country trail network, which lies at 1.100 to 2.700 metres above sea level, offers trails of varying levels of difficulty for hobbyists and professional athletes alike. The high-plateau is also considered the top location for Via Ferrata tours. 20 wonderful Via Ferratas and mountaineering tours will reward you with breathtaking views extending down to the Czech Republic or the Triglav mountains of Slovenia. The high-alpine, year-round ski area on the Dachstein glacier (2700 m) features four different lifts, as well as up to 18 km of groomed cross-country trails. These trails are central to the Nordic sports teams who often train here in Autumn. The Dachstein glacier's other features include various hiking paths, skiing slopes, a SkyWalk viewing platform, an Ice Palace, a Suspension Footbridge and many other unique attractions.

Nordic Performance Center
Ramsau am Dachstein is a centre for top athletes all-year-round - be it for indoor or outdoor training. The Nordic Showcase Centre with performance diagnostics, sports medicine, and coaching, meets the athletes’ highest requirements. The centre is not only open to professionals but also to amateur athletes and guests.
The Performance Centre offers a nine-metre high climbing tower, with different routes up to difficulty level 9, a gym as well as a medical assessment area for testing physical performance and training control.
However, the centrepiece is a treadmill suitable for ski rollers with adjustable velocity and gradient. On the 4.5 x 3 m running tread, Olympic trails can be simulated here.

A dream for deep snow artists
The Edelgrieß is known by insiders as one of the most beautiful freeride runs in the Alps. That said, a “stable base” and advanced skills are an absolute must if you plan to slice down the southern massif of the Dachstein all the way back to Ramsau village. 1.600 vertical meters of pure deep-snow enjoyment set against a magnificent rocky backdrop with views of the Planai and Schladming, and gradients as steep as 45°. Between steep crags and limestone walls, you encounter the cirques, gullies and firn flanks of the Dachstein. This spectacular adventure down to Ramsau is 8 km in total length!
