Crops are hay, alfalfa, barley for Coors, potatoes, beef cattle. Watering by large circles of sprinklers. This is where the Rio Grande river comes out of the La Garita Mountains going through New Mexico to the border to the Gulf of Mexico. 192

97·SOB·4102 Aug: Mountain Village, Stanley, ID: Our 205-mile run saw Nancy at the helm 161 elevation-gaining miles as its her specialty. Near the MT/ID border we barely skirted the Moose Fire = 62,410 acres/97.5 sq mi, 20% contained, almost 1,000 personnel incl 25 hand crews, 48 fire engines, ten helicopters of various sizes, multiple air tankers, and drones dropping incendiary bombs to start backfires. Human caused, arson or accident? Two helicopter pilots have died in the containment effort. Lord have mercy.
