About Us

Founded in 1999, Quantifoil Micro Tools GmbH was the first commercial manufacturer of electron microscopy support films of predefined hole size and arrangement and continues to set the global standard. Our cryo-EM sample supports have been cited in more than 4,000 peer-reviewed publications, and are essential to cryo-EM workflows worldwide. Becoming part of SPT Labtech in 2019, Quantifoil has continued to flourish and our grids are utilised in every area of science, from semiconductor studies and lithium ion battery development to drug discovery for diseases including cancer, heart disease and neurological disorders.

Based in Jena, Germany we offer the widest range of TEM sample support materials and geometries. Our focus is to deliver the latest innovations in support technology, and our market-leading UltrAuFoil® range of holey gold supports continue to set industry standards. Their gold foil on gold grid construction reduces beam induced motion and provides better reconstructions with less data for single particle analyses.

The highest quality is assured as each support receives individual attention from our highly-trained technical staff and inspected by optical microscopy before leaving the factory; additional checks are made with electron microscopy.
