Hope all is well in your world. One more message before vacation!Today we get to start with good news; I believe our numbers regarding COVID-19 have stayed flat, since I have not heard from my OEM Director since June 26th. The Governor has opened amusement parks and child care centers, as well as increasing the limit on outdoor gatherings to 500. All good; however, there is a retraction on indoor dining, as there should be. I know this is extremely painful for bars, restaurants, and indoor activities, but, given the recent spike in positive cases all over the country, it would seem the safe thing to do.We have opened our basketball courts and playgrounds to the public, but a strong word of caution here. They are to be used at your own risk and with a personal responsibility to self-sanitize. Unfortunately, our only other option would be to keep them closed. Outdoor activities are how we stay in physical shape and help us maintain our mental health, as well; please enjoy, but be mindful of the risk and wipe the equipment down before use.Tomorrow is Independence Day, and that means picnics, barbecues, family, and friends. As it falls on a Saturday, it may well be celebrated a little more enthusiastically. And, of course, with fireworks. I urge you to celebrate safely; far too many people are injured every year by carelessness. Nothing is worse than spending your holiday in an emergency room.Well, I am off to Virginia to see my sister, so I m keeping my letter short today. Enjoy your holiday weekend and your summer, practice social distancing, and wear face coverings when you should.A special thank you goes out to my administrative assistant, Cate Leedy; without her this letter, as well as many of the other things that I do for the Borough, would not happen. We are only as good as the people that support us.Be Safe, Be Smart, and Stay Healthy!God Bless,Ed Seely,MayorMessage from the Mayor ArchiveThe 2020 Census will determine congressional representation, inform hundreds of billions in federal funding every year, and provide data that will impact communities for the next decade.
