Diagnostic radiographers’ experiences when interacting with the custodians of paediatric patients presenting for general radiographic imagingS.F. Ketema, R.M. Kekana, H. Essop, H.W. MsonzaDOI: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.radi.2021.03.008Publication stage: In Press Corrected ProofPreviewFull-Text HTMLPDFxRadiographic imaging of children presents several complexities, one of which includes their reliance on an adult to take care of them. Literature reports on investigations that focused on interactions of healthcare professionals with children and their parents or guardians in the healthcare setting, but little is known about radiographers’ interactions with different custodians of paediatric patients. This study sought to explore and describe the experiences of radiographers with the different custodians of paediatric patients and assess how these custodians contribute to the outcomes of radiographic examinations.Letter to the Editor: Late non-physiological impacts of Covid-19 on radiography educationJonathan McConnell, Sonyia McFadden, Martyn Floyd, Wiam Elshami, Mohammed Mahmoud Abuzaid, Lesley Leishman, Karen EckloffDOI: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.radi.2021.04.006Publication stage: In Press Accepted ManuscriptPDFRenal doppler indices and their correlation with laboratory indices of human immunodeficiency virus sero-positive adult individualsM. To the best of our knowledge, there are no published research articles on renal Doppler indices and their correlation with laboratory indices of HIV sero-positive adult individuals. This study aimed to assess the renal function of HIV-sero-positive adults using RI and PI, and correlating these indices against laboratory values.Radiographers reporting chest X-ray images: Identifying the service enablers and challenges in England, UKB.J. Reporting radiographers provide a cost-effective and safe solution for managing CXR backlogs, but not all Trusts support this service development. This study aimed to establish the service enablers and challenges associated with training and employing radiographers to report CXR images in acute hospital sites in England, UK.The role of the Consultant Radiographer in facilitating rapid access to palliative radiotherapyS. At UCLH (University College London Hospitals, UK) this examination consists of two projections, an AP (antero-posterior) and an LS (lateral scapula). Following a review of the related literature and the possible advantages of an axial style projection, a study was performed to evaluate whether a new projection named modified trauma axial (MTA) shoulder projection could replace the existing LS projection in the routine examination of the acute shoulder. Congratulations to J. Bleiker S. Morgan-Trimmer K. Knapp and S. Hopkins on their winning paper 'Navigating the maze: Qualitative research methodologies and their philosophical foundations'. Published in our 2019 Special Issue on Methodological Issues in Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy Research edited by Dr Andrew England and Dr John Thompson, this excellent overview of qualitative research explores the necessity for reporting the underpinning philosophical basis of a qualitative study in addition to the more customary descriptions of how data were collected and analysed. The authors outline how and why consistency between the philosophical position taken and the methods used within a study is an important aspect of research quality.Click here for more details on this winning paper and our other highly commended papers.
