Dear Community,We must once again write to you with sad news.  Due to the continual uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have decided to cancel Falling Leaves 2020.  We are all devastated to not be with you in person, but a gathering of our size in the state of SC at this time is not doable.  We will be working to try to find a way for us to be together in April 2021, even if we have to re-imagine the size or format of the gathering.  In the meantime, we will be offering some opportunities to connect online during the week of September 21-27, 2020, when we would have gathered for Falling Leaves.  We will also work to connect folks who may want to gather regionally in small groups.We hope you are all well and healthy, and we hope you are finding ways to connect with nature and community during these wild times. Love,Aura, Sara, Whip, and the Leadership Council   Earthskills RendezvousWe have two gatherings, each year - Rivercane Rendezvous in the spring and Falling Leaves Rendezvous in the fall. Both gatherings are now Full Week-Long Events! "With learning a skill comes self-confidence, and with that self confidence we become a more fully alive human being."-Darry Wood, Founder"Earthskills are of the hand and eye, yet also of the heart and mind."-Snow Bear, Founder Our program focus is daily top quality instruction in dozens of ancestral and heritage primitive skills such as matchless fire making, foraging for wild edible and medicinal plants, stone tool creation and use, ancient weaponry and basket making, just to name a few.  After a full day of hands on instruction, evening programs give you the opportunity to join in the revival of the great oral tradition of storytelling around the council fire, or the option to pull up a chair in any of the many camps where homegrown and traditional Appalachian music is played, or the opportunity to answer the call of the drum and dance around the fire under a star filled sky. Striving for cooperation, generosity of spirit, tolerance and harmonious relationships, we welcome the skills, art, music and culture of all human ethnicities.Since 1985 our camps have been a place where new friendships are forged, old friendships refined, and the empowering knowledge of pioneer, survival, native and traditional primitive skills is shared.
