Please note that our club uses these rides to raise money for our Diabetic Charity Partners. To participate in these rides you must agree to all of the following:

1. Be or become a member of MichCanSka 3 months prior to any ride,

2. Agree to pay the registration fee for each ride,

3. Agree to donate or raise the minimum amount of dollars to one of our partner charities as set by MichCanSka for each ride,

4. Agree to all of the terms, conditions and rules of the ride set
by Michcanska, including any required screening of a riders
ability and qualifications. Some of these rides are extreme
rides and member/rider/group safety is paramount,

5. Agree to MichCanSkas ZERO TOLERANCE Alcohol Drug Policy, along with other terms and conditions set by MichCanSka as well as its By-Laws. Non Club members interested in any of the trips listed can go to the “Join” page on this website, download the application and mail the form with payment to the address on the form to become members or contact us at rjbelliel@comcast.net.

MichCanSkas main fundraising ride is off to a great start. The group will do a loop ride daily (out and back) to the Holiday Inn Hotel in Marquette MI. Mondays ride took the group to Big Bay and back. Tuesdays ride took the group on the famous #8 Trail though Gwinn, Chatham, Munising, Shingleton, Christmas and back to home base. Wednesdays ride included Gwinn, Republic, Ishpeming and back to the hotel. The group will be riding through Friday raising money for our Clubs designated diabetes charities: JDRF, ADA (American Diabetes Association) and DC (Diabetes Canada). We wish them safe travels and congratulate them on being able to put together this ride given the Covid challenges we have been enduring. MichCanSka members have collectively ridden over 500,000 miles and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for our charities since 2010. We are proud to continue that tradition this year in spite of our challenges. THANK YOU RIDERS!

We successfully and safely completed the 8 day adventure through northern Maine and New Brunswick, Canada. We did have challenges with the support truck breaking down, and two sleds needed repairs. With this type of adventure, navigating can be difficult at times, but we never got lost. We had to back-track more than a mile (once). We did have two close calls with Pete and Floyd, but fortunately no injuries or sled damage. Check back as we will be posting more pics, video’s and more over the next couple of days…. Our first 2020 MichCanSka charity ride was successfully completed today, February 15, 2020. We had 17 riders participating. The ride began on Feb. 8 in Newberry, MI. The ride was 8 days long and traveled over 1000 miles. This ride left Newberry and traveled through the following cities: Marquette, Houghton, Copper Harbor, Sidnaw, Munising, Drummond Island, Sault Saint Marie and back to Newberry, MI. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF THE RIDERS FOR COMPLETING THIS CHALLENGE AND RAISING FUNDS TO HELP CURE DIABETES. ONCE AGAIN MICHCANSKA HAS ORGANIZED SNOWMOBILE RIDES TO BENEFIT OUR DIABETES CHARITY PARTNERS. THERE WERE TWO MAIN FUNDRAISING RIDES THIS WINTER.

THE WEST YELLOWSTONE IS NOW COMPLETE. THERE WERE 11 PARTICIPANTS ON THIS RIDE. THE RIDE WAS A COMPLETE SUCCESS. IT TOOK PLACE DURING ONE OF THE BIG SNOWSTORMS THAT SWEPT ACROSS THE MIDWEST. THE RIDERS ENCOUNTERED PLENTY OF SNOW AND ADVENTURE OUT IN WEST YELLOWSTONE. UNFORTUNATELY THAT SAME BLIZZARD PREVENTED SOME OF OUR SCHEDULED PARTICIPANTS TO REACH THERE DESTINATION. THE RANDALLS AND LIPINSKIS WERE FORCED TO COME BACK TO MICHIGAN AS THE ROADS WERE IMPASSABLE. THEY COMPLETED THEIR TREK IN THE UPPER PENINSULA OF MICHIGAN. THANKS TO ALL OF THOSE PARTICIPANTS AND THE MONEY THEY RAISED TO FIND A CURE FOR DIABETES.

THE SECOND RIDE WAS AN ONTARIO CANADA LOOP RIDE WHICH BEGAN FEBRUARY 23 AND ENDED ON MARCH 1, 2019. THIS RIDE HAD 17 RIDERS AND 2 SUPPORT DRIVERS AND VEHICLES. RIDERS TRAVELED A LOOP BEGINNING IN WAWA AND TRAVELED THROUGH THE CITIES OF CHAPLEAU, TIMMINS, COCHRANE, SMOOTH ROCK, HEARST, HORNEPAYNE, DUBREUILVILLE, AND BACK TO WAWA. MICHCANSKA HELD THEIR ANNUAL SUMMER PICNIC AND MEETINGS ON SATURDAY JULY 28. A GREAT TIME WAS HAD BY ALL. THE GROUP LAID OUT PRELIMINARY PLANS FOR THEIR UPCOMING TRIPS:

Michigan Loop and Alaska Charity Rides are complete!

Michcanska’s 2 big charity rides for 2018 are complete. Both rides were very safe and successful in terms of the rides themselves. Once again our riders were up to the challenges that they took on. Both rides began on February16th from Sault St. Marie MI. The Michigan Loop ride was completed back at the Soo on Feb. 24th. All 20 Loop riders returned to home and raised a lot of money for a good cause. The ride lasted 9 days and everyone had a great time. A special thank you to Ralph Gordon who drove the chase/support vehicle for that group. Also we all want to send out a get well to George Pattullo who encountered some medical issues before the ride and was unable to make it this year. George is a founding Board member of the club and we wish him well in his recovery.

The 10 Alaska bound riders successfully completed their journey on March 14. The Alaska adventure was Part 2 of a planned Maine to Alaska trip. Part 1 was from Maine to MI and completed in 2017. Ironically, the start of our Maine ride was delayed by too much snow, and, at the end of our Alaska ride just outside of Fairbanks, we ran into the same situation. The group made a safety decision and called in the support vehicles to get to get us to North Pole Alaska which is just outside of Fairbanks. It was a great adventure covering 4 US States, 5 Canadian Provinces and several time zones. The trip also included a Trek Over The Top of the world (Dawson City YT to Tok Alaska). Thanks to Dave Gentry for manning the chase/support vehicle and tending to our needs. Dave spent many hours in the vehicle supporting our efforts

Both groups want to thank Pete Pattullo and Mike Pattullo for manning and monitoring the Command Center. They had the ability to track our progress, deal with any emergency on the trails if needed, maintain the riders medical records and emergency contacts, locate riders and groups if separated, and coordinate other emergency responses. It was great knowing that had your back. Thanks Again!
