Hotel Northbridge is a unique heritage-listed property steeped in history, originally built in 1898. The hotel was established during the boom of the gold prospecting era with proceeds from the discovery of one of Western Australia’s largest gold nuggets named the ‘Golden Eagle’. Originally renowned as the ‘Royal Standard’, providing travellers and local patrons a place of comfort, rest and recreation. Visitors enjoyed 18th Century hospitality, whilst their faithful equine steeds would be tendered by on-site stable hands, ready for another hard days travel. In November 1999, the owner and developer completed his innovative vision of restoring the Hotel’s heritage-listed features including the resurrection of the original balcony. Mr X is our regularcustomer who has previously stayed at our hotel. The police officers later found himat the hotel bar. They talked to Mr X at the hotel restaurant and took him away afterthat.Contrary to media reports, Hotel Northbridge was not forced to shut down and wasallowed by the Health Department and WA Police to operate business as usual afterthe initial investigation last night. We however decided to err on the side of cautionand closed the pub early to undergo thorough cleaning and disinfection. Noquarantine of hotel staff or other follow-up action was requested by the HealthDepartment and WA Police. Hotel Northbridge has not been used as a quarantinehotel for returned travellers.Hotel Northbridge takes the safety and health of all our guests and staff veryseriously. We maintain high standards of hygiene, and practice social distancing inaccordance with the federal and state guidelines. All our staff attended the AHAHospitality Tourism COVID-19 Hygiene Course and we observed strictly what wehave learnt from the training.We would like to commend WA Police for taking swift action to safeguard our venue,staff, patrons and public, and for their professionalism during the investigation.
