All club meetings are currently on hiatus until after the Coronavirus situation is cleared up. Thursday of the month at the Federal Way Public Schools Support Services Center at 7pm. The FWPS SSC is located at 1211 South 332nd Streetin Federal Way which is the new facility at the south end of Celebration Park, and just east of the FW Community Center. All are welcome to attend, and no license required. At our last club meeting... Our May 14th club meeting was cancelled due to the Federal Way school district closing all of their facilities to outside groups. Dave Funk-WA7RSO is putting on a ?Tech Net? presentation via Zoom Meeting this coming Thursday evening at 7pm. Dave is going to cover some of the components used in the project presented in the September 2020 issue of the QST magazine. Dave has worked on Minuteman Missile systems, AWACS radar planes, and at the Boeing Space Center in Auburn, and has been an educator for the Puyallup School District. Dave has been an Extra class licensee for a very long time, and has been a FWARC guest speaker on a number of occasions. No ham radio license required. No club membership required. Just an interest in amateur radio. The club's Board of Trustees meeting starts at 6pm, and the general membership meeting starts at 7pm. Instead, we will meet via ZOOM video conferencing. Emergency Communications Response Team (ECRT) will be meeting at 7pm on Thursday evening September 17th. The ECRT is the public service aspect of the Federal Way Amateur Radio Club. The ECRT was organized to provide backup radio communications and other support to governmental and civic agencies in the times of emergency or disaster. Some of the ECRT team members also support other non-emergent public service functions such as some of the fun run held in Federal Way, as well as many of the Seafair events in the Puget Sound area. Here is your chance to start your day off right with good breakfast and some eyeball-to-eyeball QSO's with other area ham radio operators. This event is open to the public. No ham radio license required. No club membership required. Just an interest in amateur radio. Folks start showing up around 8:30am or so, and we can usually be found near the doors of the large conference room. Come out and join us. All will be welcomed. Hope to see you there! Old Country Buffet 1816 South 320th Street Federal Way, WA 98003 Hams Hot Dogs lunch continues to be a popular event each Tuesday from 11am to Noon at the Federal Way Costco store. Another opportunity for area hams to get together to talk shop and feed their face. Membership with Costco is now a requirement, but not with the FWARC. You don't need a ham radio license to attend, just an interest in amateur radio. If you are not a Costco member, let the ID checkers know that you are going to the pharmacy or have an eye appointment. In reference to Section 5.2.2 of the FWARC's bylaws, more than five club members have recently requested a special club meeting to be held on May 6th at 7pm. Due to the Coronavirus, the special club meeting will be held via Zoom video conferencing. All club members should have received an email with a link to join the Zoom video conference.
