Building an Inclusive National Innovation EcosystemThe Center for Accelerating Innovation partners with businesses, universities, non-profits, and government agencies to accelerate innovation, productivity, entrepreneurship, and sustainability. The Center works on solving complex policy, strategic and operational challenges associated with maintaining US technology leadership, talent, competitiveness, manufacturing and broadband at the federal, state and local levels. A special initiative is now underway to engage the US innovation ecosystem to play a larger role in revitalizing low-income communitiesdesignated as Opportunity Zones (OZ).We are working on the design of OZ Accelerator and answering key questions. What are the critical needs and problems of OZs? How do we aggregate needs into OZ Innovation Challenges to unleash breakthrough thinking and creative solutions? What is the process for channeling public and private investments to demonstrate, deploy and scale promising solutions? What are the appropriate metrics to monitor performance and measure ultimate impact? Revitalizing an OZ is not a me-too of what another state,region or community is doing. In practice a successful OZ strategy has its own unique vision, strategy, leadership, culture and value proposition. Our intent is transforming Opportunity Zones into Innovation Zones.
