Since the mid-1970's Penobscot Respiratory has been serving the respiratory, critical care, and sleep medicine needs of northern Maine. We offer many services in our office and at Eastern Maine Medical Center. Our physicians diagnose diseases of the chest, lungs, and airways including pneumonia and tuberculosis, lung cancer, emphysema and COPD, bronchitis, bronchiectasis, asthma, pleural disease, pulmonary hypertension and vasculitis, sleep disturbances, and interstitial lung disease. We provide expert management of these and other pulmonary diseases in close collaboration with the patient's primary care physician. Our practice emphasizes both the contemplative consultation as well as pulmonary procedures. Bronchoscopy including advanced techniques such as endoscopic bronchial ultrasound (EBUS), Wang needle biopsies, pleural taps, cardio-pulmonary exercise testing, pulmonary function testing, and sleep testing are performed within our practice. Our twelve physicians are board-certified in the fields of Pulmonary Disease and/or Critical Care Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Several of our physicians are also certified in the field of Sleep Medicine. Our physicians provide ICU coverage for Eastern Maine Medical Center. Our physicians staff the Cystic Fibrosis Clinic, and the Sleep Clinic at Eastern Maine Medical Center in addition to the general Pulmonary Clinic.
