08/24/2021 : IASTE 2021 UPDATE 
WE ARE READY FOR IASTE 2021
31 August to 3 September, 2021 150 Participants   I   120 Presentations  I   3 Keynote Speakers    I  3 years in the making 

We are few days away from the IASTE 2021. The virtual conference will run from 31 August to 3 September, and the program is completed and published, and you can view the public version now. We also extended the conference registration to attendance only fees of $100. The attendance-only registration gain access to the entire program, three keynote sessions, 24 papers sessions, the special networking rooms, and many other activities. Attendance only registration, and for the first time, will also have access to download the digital copy of the TDSR special conference issue and WPS volume 307-314.

07/20/2021 : IASTE 2021 UPDATE 
The tremendous progress that many countries have made due to robust vaccination programs gave us some hope, especially in the UK. However, this hope has recently been dampened by the surge in COVID-19 (delta variant) cases worldwide. Today, the US State Department issued a do not travel advisory for the UK. Moreover, the UK government recently published guidelines for people traveling to the UK, which applies to the majority of our members planning to participate in the Nottingham Conference. Of the 42 countries from which the conference participants are coming, almost all (with two exceptions) are on the amber or red-listed countries. This means that most participants will not be allowed to enter the UK without testing and completing a quarantine period. This development has eliminated the prospect of an in-person conference in Nottingham later next month. Also, we understand that holding an in-person conference with the small minority of individuals coming from the green list of countries would create tremendous inequity between members based on where they come from.

We recognize that this is disappointing news for you as it is for us. However, we are still committed to holding the conference and will do so virtually. We know this is not ideal but the alternative of canceling altogether would eliminate the possibility of disseminating some excellent scholarship on the topic of virtual traditions.

We are now setting up the platform for the virtual conference to accommodate 120 paper presentations over 24 themed sessions and three plenary sessions. The virtual conference will run from 31 August to 3 September.

06/15/2021 : IASTE 2021 UPDATE 
On behalf of the organizing committee, we are writing to update you on the preparation for our upcoming IASTE conference, VIRTUAL TRADITIONS, to be held in Nottingham, the UK, from August 31 – September 3, 2021.  

As the global situation has continued to improve regarding the pandemic and many countries have started to remove travel restrictions, we expect to go ahead with the conference. We are fully aware that the situation in several countries worldwide is still designed as UK red or amber zones, and we hope that this situation will change soon.

You can review the conference program at iaste.org, and we are hopeful that the pandemic situation will continue to improve towards safe travels by August 31, 2021. We are also making contingency plans if the UK does not fully open by July 19, 2021, as currently announced by the UK government.  Read More

As an organization dedicated to increasing our understanding of place, tradition, and change, the International Association for the Study of Traditional Environments (IASTE) is pleased to host a live seminar with four seminal scholars and practitioners who will try to answer a series of questions in an attempt to further the discourse on the post-pandemic city.  They bring a deep knowledge of ancient history, digital media, contemporary design, and cultural heritage and their voices will help us develop a deeper understanding of what this pandemic means to the future of our cities.  Read More
