Welcome to Brighton City Airport COVID-19 – Brighton City Airport Status Update 5/11/2020 HM Government updated the Coronavirus (COVID-19): General Aviation guidance on 4 November. Prior to the announcement of the national 4-week lockdown, the Airport company had already consulted upon and implemented a plan to provide resilience and continuity in the ATC service and RFFS throughout the autumn/winter. The Airport will be open daily from 0800-1800 Mon-Fri and 0900-1800 at weekends. The robust COVID-19 mitigation measures applied ‘airside’ and for visits to the Airport Terminal remain in place. Please note that face coverings are required when visiting the Fire Station and inside the Airport Terminal. It is expected that responsible owners and operators shall have completed their own risk assessment for planned air operations at the Airport and will respect the guidance/golden rules issued by the government. NOTAMs have been issued explaining the revised opening hours, the ATC service available and the need to provide 24 hours’ notice should RFFS Category 2 be required for a flight.We have Jet A1 and AVGAS available and payment must be made by card or on account. The Hummingbird restaurant will be providing a Take-Away Service until 2 December and will be open each weekday between 0830 and 1430 and 0900 to 1430 at weekendsWe plan to support those who need to fly throughout the autumn/winter and would like to remind aviators to note the PPR, read the EGKA NOTAMs for the latest information and be cognisant of the public information campaign to help prevent the R numbering increasing: HANDS, FACE, SPACE. As well as being a choice aviation facility, Brighton City Airport is also a great day out thanks to its historically significant Grade II Listed hangar and art deco listed terminal building. The Main Terminal building was opened on 13th June 1936 under the name ‘Brighton Hove and Worthing Joint Municipal Airport’ and still stands proud, today. Aviation enthusiasts can enjoy a guided tour of these wonderful historic buildings and learn about how the Airport was utilised during the Second World War and post-war period before visiting the Shoreham Airport Collection (SAC) located in the Main Airport Terminal whose volunteer staff look forward to greeting you. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is not possible for the SAC to operate as we would wish.  The volunteers will open the facility again as soon as we are permitted and it is safe so to do. Passengers, visitors and locals alike can all dine in the fabulous and popular Hummingbird Cafe, which is located in the Main Terminal building and has stunning views across the airfield towards Lancing College and the South Downs National Park.The Hummingbird restaurant, renowned for its great home-cooked food, had been operating in accordance with government guidelines successfully since July. However, given the recent announcement of a second national lockdown, the restaurant is restricted to a Takeaway Service only with a limited menu. It will be open daily Mon-Fri 0830 to 1430 and at weekends 0900 to 1430. Access to the Takeaway Service is via the door to the left of the Main Terminal Building entrance and exit will be through the Terminal and out via the eastern door. Please note that you cannot get access to the restaurant through the double doors at the front of the Terminal nor from the Foyer.
