During these uncertain times we want to remind our students and families that we are available for support and to make referrals within the community for resources.If you need additional assistance or support, call East High School at (307) 771-2663. The TBird Academy (Room 347) will be open Monday-Wednesday, March 30-April 1, 2020, from 9 a.m. to noon for students needing extra assistance in their courses; to make up missing assignments, tests, or GVCs; a quiet place to work; or access to a computer.Tutors will be available to help students in English, math, science, and social studies.ACT CANCELLED More information will be available at a later date.Juniors will be taking theACT on April 21, 2020, paper version. Calling in for appointments When calling in for a Blue Pass for your student to leave school for an appointment, please call at least 30 minutes before your child needs to leave the school to give time for the pass to be written and delivered to your child. Dropping off Students in the morning Please be considerate of others when dropping off or picking up students. Please do not block the drive but pull in to parking spaces or at least only stop in the lane closest to the building so others are not delayed. Poetry Out Loud CANCELLED National Poetry Out Loud, sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts, will hold its annual competition April 27-29, 2020, in Washington D.C.The city-wide Cheyenne Poetry Out Loud competition will be Jan. 15, 2020, at the Laramie County Library. Interested students grades 9-12 must register by Jan. 8, 2020, 5 p.m., by contacting Rachel Christoph at rachel.christoph@laramie1.org. Please include the following information: student's name, grade, school, and poetry selection. Students will be judged on recitation from memory, presence, vocal inflection, and will choose one poem to perform.The state-wide Wyoming Poetry Out Loud competition will be March 2, 2020, at Laramie County Community College. Go here for Wyoming-specific information.The each state champion will receive $200, an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington D.C. to compete at the National Finals, and a $500 school stipend for the purchase of poetry materials. LCSD 1 seekspublic feedback Survey will be available starting Monday, Sept. 16. Laramie County School District 1 is seeking feedback from its stakeholders. Parents/guardians, students, staff and community members are invited to participate in an online survey, which will be open Sept. 16-28. As part of the district’s accreditation process, representatives from the Wyoming Department of Education will review and compile the surveys. They will share the results with LCSD1 administrators during an accreditation visit Nov. 5 and 6. The survey will help identify strengths and areas that may need improvement or additional attention. Information will be used to provide direction in the school and district improvement process.
