The importance of pulsecultivation and consumption is recognized by the scientific community in terms of human nutrition, food security, biodiversity, their ability to serve as a substitute for animal protein. In some marginal areas, pulse cultivation also contributes to the preservation of traditional landscape, the maintenance of natural environments, and protection against the abandonment of agricultural landalong withcontributing to the safeguarding of traditional gastronomy and culture. Agricultural and Food Economics is an international peer-reviewed journal published on behalf of the Italian Society of Agricultural Economics. The editors welcome high-quality, problem-oriented submissions on agriculture and food from a wide variety of socio-economic perspectives and from all over the world.
Completely open access, the journal publishes original research and review articles with innovative results and relevant policy and managerial implications, based on quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methodologies. Topics of interest include sustainable food systems, food and nutrition security, agricultural and food policy, environmental impacts of agricultural and food activities, market analysis, agri-food firm management and marketing, organization of the agri-food value chains, behavioral economics, food quality and safety issues, food and health economics, trade, sustainable rural development, natural and marine resource economics, and land economics.
Society affiliationAgricultural and Food Economics is sponsored by the SIDEA (Societ脿 Italiana di Economia Agraria, or Italian Society of Agricultural Economics). SIDEA's mission is to contribute to an efficient farm and agrifood sector promoting free, independent, and original research in the field of agricultural economics.
