The food, the gardens, the flowers and the house truly offer an escape from everyday city life and the chance to be exposed to a much simpler time.The menu consists of a wide variety of home cooked style dishes and are served in a traditional family style. At Agar s Corner you really feel like part of the family.Follow highway 16 east from Saskatoon to Floral Road, turn right and you will notice a sign which states Agar s Corner: since 1906. That sign will let you know that the Agar Family have occupied the farm at that corner for over 100 years. But today it also lets you know that you have arrived at Agar s Corner: Country House Dining and Catering.Don and Carmen Agar live on the grounds, and their son Chas is the 5th generation to grow up on the yard. The Mail Order House, built in 1916, now houses a special occasion catering facility. The house is reservation only, for groups with a minimum of 12 to a maximum of 30. When groups book, the entire facility is theirs for the evening. People can enjoy fresh home cooked food, the cheerful reception and the special atmosphere of a character home from the teens. Except for kitchen additions, the house is much as it was in 1916, complete with appointments such as the oak telephone hanging on the wall. The house was built by Don s great-grandparents. Charles and Francis Agar, and was also occupied by Don s grandparents, Charles and Mae Agar.For the past 20 years, the house has been the focal point of the business started by Don s Parents, Jim and Peggy Agar. In order to meet the growing demand for a facility which could handle larger groups up to 200, a separate building was built on the yard.Cold meat trayReal roast beef, turkey and baked ham, with homemade buns and condimentsAll of our meals start with fresh baked buns,and a seasonal fresh salad drizzled with our much loved house dressing.The main meal is served family style.You choose the dish and we add the potatoes, country fresh vegetables, tea, coffee, and a choice of desserts.Prime Rib$42.00 A house specialty Canadian Prime Rib is crowned with fresh herbs and our house made rub, then slow roasted over wood chips in its own juices. Comes with Yorkshire pudding.Roast beef$38.00Once again, Canadian beef coated with our house made rub and slow roasted over wood chips. Flavorful and juicy.Agar s Corner Maple Ribs$34.00 Melt in your mouth pork back baby ribs marinated and slow roasted over wood chips in a flavorful house made rub and Canadian maple syrup. Amazing.Stuffed Pork Loin$32.00 Dry rubbed pork loin that is marinated over night. It is then butterflied and stuffed with a mixture of bread crumbs, nuts and dried fruit. We slow roast it until nice and juicy. Comes with apple compote made with apples from our fruit trees.Roast Turkey$34.00 Slow roasted and basted with our house made blend of herbs. Comes with dressing, homemade cranberry sauce and our famous turnip puff.Crispy Oven Baked Chicken$28.00 Slow roasted and basted with our house made blend of herbs.DessertWe offer a variety of desserts all homemade with the freshest ingredients possible.
