Web Name: Diamond Pet Company
Every pet deserves the very best
That’s the idea that started it all back in 1970. Was it possible to produce quality pet food at a price the average pet owner could afford? Fortunately, the answer was “yes.” And today, Diamond Pet Foods is one of the fastest growing manufacturers of pet foods in the country, with brands trusted by professional breeders, trainers, veterinarians and nutrition-conscious pet owners in more than 100 countries worldwide.
We’re a family-owned company with strong Midwestern values. And staying true to that original vision of making quality pet food affordable has never been compromised by outside, corporate thinking. Maybe that’s how we’ve managed to do it. Whatever the case, we’re not about to change now. Every pet does deserve the very best.
And that includes yours.
Diamond Pet Foods began in 1970 with a shared vision. Our founders, brothers-in-law Gary Schell and Richard Kampeter, believed that quality pet food could be produced at an affordable price. Together, they purchased a former milling company in the town of Meta, Missouri (population 220), and the Diamond company was born.
Soon, nutrition-conscious pet owners were validating Gary and Richard’s theory and buying Diamond Pet Foods products. Our plant in Meta was modernized with state-of-the-art equipment, and we expanded our production capacity in order to meet the growing demand with plants in Lathrop, California in 1999; Gaston, South Carolina in 2003; Ripon, California in 2012; Dumas, Arkansas in 2016; and Frontenac, Kansas in 2021.
Today, Diamond Pet Foods remains one of the fastest growing pet food manufacturers in the country. Our products are trusted by professional breeders, trainers, veterinarians and pet owners in all 50 states and in 100 countries around the world. The second generation of Schell and Kampeter families still own and operate the company. And we still believe that every pet is worthy of the best nutrition. Including yours.Diamond" class="cover container slide about-diamond" id="about-diamond">

Our philosophy has always been to produce quality pet food at an affordable price. Because we believe every pet, from purebred show animal to shelter puppy or kitten, is worthy of the best nutrition.
In order to provide both quality ingredients and products that are affordable, we’ve developed unique relationships with our suppliers. Being privately held, we can look beyond short-term, quarterly shareholder results and enter into long-term agreements with our vendors. These long-term arrangements with our vendor-partners have led to preferred pricing, vendor loyalty, and a steady supply of quality ingredients for Diamond.
How We Ensure Every Pet is Getting the Quality Food They Deserve
At Diamond, we only make products that we’d be proud to feed to our own pets. We start with quality ingredients, including real meat, vegetables and fruits. Then our veterinarians and nutritionists carefully develop formulas that meet dietary nutritional standards. And finally, our products undergo a rigorous quality-control process to ensure it meets our quality and safety standards.

All of our facilities incorporate state-of-the-art technology and manufacturing processes. We continually monitor, track and measure our processes to ensure quality and safety of our products.
Every Diamond Pet Foods facility undergoes a yearly Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) audit administered by NSF International®, an industry-leading food safety audit firm, headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Good Manufacturing Practices are guidelines that ensure the product being produced has the “identity, strength, composition, and quality that it is represented to possess.”
