After a year that has flown by, it’s time to kick back and enjoy ourselves. There’s only one way to celebrate Thanksgiving, aside from stuffing yourselves, is listening to Matt and I reflect on the more nuanced aspects of the 1989 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on the lastest Purple Stuff Podcast! We’ve covered several of these parades in previous years, but we agree that this one may be the best yet.

If you are into pure ridiculousness, this broadcast is right up your alley. Highlights include ALF, Chip and Dale’s Rescue Rangers, the Marvel Superheroes, and the New Kids on the Block. As if that wasn’t enough, we’ve got even more surprises for you, including a couple of commercial break spotlights.

Whether you are an occassional listener of the podcast or a die-hard, this is a must-listen to episode. I hope you enjoy the show and thank you for all of your support and kind words throughout the year. Happy Thanksgiving!

Sammi Curr Super Star Musicard! Limited Edition Halloween Release

Posted on

ON SALE NOW!

Click SHOP in the menu on the right to get yours!

This year, for my annual Halloween Sammi Curr release, I was inspired by the 1991 Pro Set SuperStars Musicards that I used to collect. This lead me to collaborate with Phantom Cardboard to bring a Sammi Curr Musicard to life. An extremely limited run of 25 cards is on sale now for $13 dollars each, including shipping and a hard plastic card holder.

Availability is for U.S customers only since shipping to outside the U.S will cost double and even triple the price of the card. You will receive this in a strong bubble envelope. Please note that each card has slight imperfections that occurred in the printing process, so if you plan on getting it professionally graded keep that in mind. This card is priced reasonably taking that aspect into consideration. My annual Sammi Curr release takes a lot of time, effort, and money from myself and whomever I collaborate with so it’s not devised to make a profit. Good luck and Happy Halloween!

Have you been feeling blue? Well, have I got just the thing for you! It’s been a while since we’ve done a color theme on The Purple Stuff Podcast, so we picked out a bunch of blue things that we wanted to talk about. Obviously there’s millions of things that are blue so we had to go with the most random choices while others were trademark “Matt” or “Jay” type of picks. We’re covering stuff from all over pop culture such as Fang from Power Rangers and Rubik the Amazing Cube. We had fun recording this one, I hope you enjoy it. Please feel free to listen here or on your favorite podcast app. If you have a podcast app that we aren’t on, please let us know!

Mall Memories on The Purple Stuff Podcast!

When I need something, I just go on my Amazon app and order it. Obviously, that wasn’t always an option. The mall was the #1 place to go if you needed something, wanted to hang out with friends, or wanted to grab a quick meal. It was such a part of life that we would basically live at the mall all day on the weekends. The mall wasn’t just a place to buy stuff, but also to keep updated on what’s out, what’s trending, who’s holding hands with who, etc. Sounds a lot like a brick and mortar Twitter doesn’t it? In a way, it really was.

I was lucky, I grew up sandwiched in between 2 of the prominent New Jersey malls and it afforded me the opportunity to walk to either of them on a whim. I even worked at one of them through some of high school and college. To say that these malls are ingrained in my DNA would not be hyperbole. Being that I was spoiled in terms of my proximity to these giant malls, I’m sure a mall was even more of an event in a more rural state where a mall might have been one of the few big attractions for a night out.

All this lead Dinosaur Dracula and I to whip up a show all about our memories of The Mall. We stop into stores that we loved (Sam Goody, Spencer Gifts, and Heroes World to name a few!) and even drop by the food court! It was a fun time and I know you’ll be getting some flashbacks to a time when malls were the place to be. Check it out wherever you listen to your podcasts or you can click the link above to play it right here!

Not every segment was mind blowing, but the truly memorable ones stuck with us. We will be discussing segments that include Ghosts, UFO’s, and Toxic Goo. It’s all here and we hope you enjoy it…hanks for reading and listening!

Purple Stuff Podcast: THE FUTURE OF THE PAST!

As a kid, my thoughts on the future were fully built by Movies, cartoons, toys, and clothing trends. Obviously, The Jetsons still get referenced as a popular view of the future. In many ways we are advanced, but we’re still not zooming around in flying cars or eating dinner pellets. On the new episode of The Purple Stuff Podcast, Dinosaur Dracula and I bring a pretty rag-tag group of things that were futuristic to us when we were kids. It was quite a fun exploration of stuff, including The Terminator, the Laser Tag phenomenon, Hypercolor clothing, and a rad Rick Springfield music video. As always, there were still so many selections that we didn’t have a chance to present. As you listen to this episode on your podcast app on your phone or your fancy computer, think about the technology we have compared to where pop culture expected us to be at by this time! I hope you enjoy the episode and thanks for listening!

Christmas Songs VI on the Purple Stuff Podcast!

It’s astounding how quickly this year has flew by. That’s both good and bad because who wants this crappy year to drag on any longer than it has to, but at the same time, where the hell does time go? We’re already approaching 2021 and that blows my mind. For now though, it’s time for our annual Yuletide celebration on The Purple Stuff Podcast! Hopefully, a moose mug of egg nog and this episode will help you travel to that marshmallow world where all the BS of life vanishes for an hour.

We have arrived at our 6th installment of our annual Christmas Songs show! These are some of the most fun episodes for us and we hope you enjoy this one as much as you have in the past. Both Matt from DinoDrac and I love having Christmas songs on during the holidays and we compile songs that we think should have the spotlight each year. In our new installment, we’ve got quite an array of tunes including The Power Rangers and Kurt Russell! You read that correctly
