The Burnett Awards return to the Sacramento History Museum, Thursday, October 6 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Each year, the Sacramento History Alliance honors Sacramento businesses that have met the test of time and become iconic treasures in our community. This year, we honor Arareity Jewelers, confections shop and bakery, Osaka-Ya, Julius Clothing, Lionakis Design, and The Tower Theater by Angelica. Don’t miss it!

Gather your family and friends to play SacTown History Quest! It’s a summertime history hunt, and Sacramento is a gold mine – full of history from the Gold Rush to yesterday. With a custom map and smartphone app, you’ll hunt for clues in downtown Sacramento. Discover it!

Join the “ghosts” of early Sacramento to search for clues and solve true tales of Sacramento’s phantom past! Beware of wronged soiled doves, misidentified remains, and colorful Gold Rush characters. The guided walking tour lasts approximately one hour. (For 8 years and older. Tours will “depart” on Saturday evenings, October 15, 22, and 29. Ghost Tours are known to sell out. Get yours today!

Go Underground 7-days-a-week! Mondays – Thursdays at 1 and 2:30 PM, Fridays at 10:30 am, 11 AM, NOON, 12:30 and 2 PM. Tours run Saturdays on the half-hour, starting at 10:30 AM until 2:30 PM. Sunday tours depart at 10:30 AM, 11, noon, 12:30, 1:30 and 2 PM. Includes museum admission!

Old City Cemetery!
In September, we’re exploring the final resting place of the gold-seeking son of Alexander Hamilton, one of Nevada’s great silver barons, and we will bring our investigative equipment to the Pioneer Section of the cemetery.

Sacramento Living History’s Rummage Sale, Saturday, September 17 from 10am-3pm at 1002 2nd Street, Old Sacramento. The rummage sale will include clothing and hats spanning decades of history- think 1860’s-1980’s! Or check out the historic props and select furniture. All proceeds go to support our Sacramento Living History volunteer program.

Our latest exhibit, with highlights from the Eleanor McClatchy Collection, includes items such as original Gold Rush era maps showing where gold could be found, letter sheets from 1850s miners, a page from the Gutenberg Bible, and dime novels from the 1870s and 1880s.
